Your Industrial Park Neighbors: Capitol Glass

Glass is not just for windows anymore.

Benicia Patch periodically profiles businesses in the Industrial Park. At the  showroom, a sparkling, ceiling-height mirror reflects the interior, where co-owner Kelley McInnes discusses the company’s longtime service to Benicia residents.

How long has Capitol Glass been in the Industrial Park?
Capitol Glass has been in Benicia since 1970 and in the Industrial Park for 15 years. We moved from Military East because this location gave us more space for this showroom and for storage.

Which products are your most popular and which do you consider unique?
Our windows and shower enclosures are our most popular products.  We are now offering a new product, acrylic block windows, which come in either clear or colors. They look just like glass blocks.

Something else unique — we install pet doors in new or existing sliding glass doors. We also make “boat calls” to area  to replace windows. We offer mirrors and mirrored closet doors: frameless, beveled or traditional. For those concerned with feng shui, we also have a line of wood closet doors.

The only type of glass we don’t offer is for your car, unless it is a vintage model. We design and install, and custom cut glass for your business, home, boat or car.

If you need new screens, we’ll custom cut those.

How do you get the word out that you are in the Industrial Park?
People know us for customer service. For instance, we focus on client response time. And we do smaller jobs. If someone has a small broken window, we’ll go out and fix it.  Many companies won’t do that.

We advertise on the Internet. You’ll also find us in Local Happenings, in the , and on the Benicia Breeze buses.

Is there anything else you would like to share with your Benicia neighbors?
We are concerned there is a misconception out there that Capitol Glass supplied the faulty Southampton windows. We didn’t. However, we did go and correct those problems.

I’d also like to say Jim (McInnes) has worked in the glass business his entire adult life, since 1972. We welcome visitors to our showroom, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
