This exciting event will feature multiple rings of competition and will feature forms, sparring, and skits, depending on the
martial art. The taekwondo tournament will include forms (poomsae) and sparring (kyurogi), wushu will have forms in both open hand and weapons, tai chi will be sponsoring a push hands tournament, and karate will feature both forms (kata) and sparring (kumite).
The event will feature multiple rings of self-defense yongmudo, which demonstrates four rounds of sparring for advanced students: kicking and punching above the waist, standing throws, grappling or wrestling, and a fourth round that combines the previous three together. In the interest of safety, we also offer beginning students a competition that only features
grappling with no strikes. In addition to sparring, the self-defense yongmudo tournament will also feature a skit competition.
Self-defense yongmudo is a Korean combination martial art that mixes hand and foot strikes with throws, joint locks, ground
techniques, and everyday weapons such as belts, canes, short sticks, and kubatons.
