Accused Mail Bomber Did Online Search For 'UC Berkeley Library'

No bombs have been found to date but "UCPD asks the community to stay vigilant and report any suspicious packages without delay."

BERKELEY, CA — The Florida man arrested in a terror-by-mail plot that targeted prominent Democrats and ex-officials of the Obama administration, 56-year-old Cesar Sayoc of Florida, did an internet search for the term "UC Berkeley Library," the FBI informed the university, University Police announced Tuesday.

Despite the search, University Police say, "There is no specific reason to believe any explosives have been sent to the University, but UCPD asks the community to stay vigilant and report any suspicious packages without delay. No specific persons affiliated with the University have been identified as possible recipients and the 'library' was the only identified location."

UCPD is making routine checks of incoming mail with explosives-trained K-9s "and the UCPD Bomb Squad is well prepared to respond if needed."
