Alten Construction CEO installed as CEA president

​Robert Alten, president and CEO of Alten Construction, was installed as the president of the Construction Employers' Association.

Robert Alten, president and CEO of Alten Construction (AltenConstruction.com), a full-service San Francisco Bay area commercial construction company, was installed as the president of the Construction Employers’ Association on Jan. 10.

He brings over 20 years of experience in the commercial construction industry to his new role for the Construction Employers’ Association (CEA), the premier association in northern California that represents union commercial building contractors in collective bargaining, labor relations and legislative advocacy.

During his one-year term as president, he aims to continue CEA’s ongoing partnership with the unions, promote training and other programs provided by the unions to CEA members, work closely with the CEA legislative committee to monitor and provide advocacy on key legislation and promote jobsite safety and the benefits provided by CEA’s safety program.

“Bob is well respected by his peers in the building construction industry,” said Michael Walton, secretary of the Construction Employers’ Association. “He will be a great president of CEA this year with his strong leadership skills, work ethic and industry experience. CEA appreciates Bob volunteering his time to serve the association and the industry.”

Since the inception of Alten Construction in 1995, Alten has supervised general operations, project management and estimating. He has extensive experience with higher education construction projects and has completed 22 higher education projects for institutions like the University of California, Berkeley and Foothill-DeAnza Community College District. The construction company is currently working on a new $17.5 million, 39,000-square-foot physical education building for San Jose City College.

The Construction Employers’ Association’s membership base performs over $15 billion in public and private construction volume annually. CEA is the only organization whose sole purpose is to protect and promote the interests of the union-affiliated commercial building construction industry in northern California.
