'Suspicious' Beeping Suitcase Prompts Street Closure In Berkeley: Police

The case was left in some bushes along Shattuck Avenue, police said.

BERKELEY, CA — A suspicious suitcase left in some bushes along Shattuck Avenue triggered police to shut down the area on Wednesday afternoon.

It's unclear how the briefcase got there. Police say they recieved a report about beeping brief case along the 1700 block of Shattuck Avenue just after noon.

The Berkeley Police Department has since closed down the interesection to both cars and traffic as authorities work to "evaluate the object," a spokesperson with the agency told Patch.
