Gunman Abducts Woman During Violent Kidnapping Investigation In East Bay

Police say an armed suspect pistol-whipped a woman, forced her into a sedan, and drove away from East Oakland.

EAST BAY, CA — Police are asking for the public's help finding a woman who was struck by a handgun and forced into her car, launching an urgent kidnapping investigation.

The reported kidnapping occurred about 9:30 p.m. Friday in the 4200 block of Redding Street in Oakland.

Investigators said the suspect assaulted the victim with a firearm before forcing her into a dark-colored, four-door sedan. The suspect then drove west from the area with the woman, according to the Oakland Police Department.

Police described the woman as between 30 and 32 years old and weighs about 130 pounds. Police said her height, hair color, and eye color are unknown.

The suspect was described as being between 30 and 32 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighs about 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue-and-white pants and was armed with a black Glock-style handgun, according to police.
