RICHMOND, CA — Authorities are investigating a suspicious fire at a home in Richmond that left two people dead, including a child, as a homicide, according to a report by KTVU.
Fire crews responded around 8 p.m. to the blaze in the 200 block of 15th Street and were able to put it out after 45 minutes, according to the report.
But soon after, they noticed another house, one door down, was also on fire, according to the report.
There, fire crews found an unconscious family of four, according to the report. Two of the family members were taken to a hospital in critical condition, while the other two, a child and an adult, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the report.
The extent of the family's injuries was not clear. A coroner will determine the cause of death and work to notify the victim's next-of-kin.
It's unclear how the fires at the two homes erupted, but fire officials say they started independently of each other, according to the report.
