The hot dog spot currently has three Bay Area locations.

| Updated

BERKELEY, CA — Top Dog, an iconic Berkeley hot dog restaurant, is expanding into Downtown as part of a partnership with The BreakRoom, according to a DailyCal report.

The decision to open a new spot at The BreakRoom comes after Top Dog recently closed its Oakland location after 14 years.

It's unclear exactly when The BreakRoom will begin serving the popular hot dogs, but the variety will be limited, according to the report.

The new location will offer five signature menu items from Top Dog's, in addition to its potato salad and chips, according to the report.

"Growing up in Berkeley, I'm a fourth-generation Berkeleyan," BreakRoom owner August Wagele told DailyCal. "Top Dog means a lot to me and the people I grew up with. So (what's) really important to me is also expanding Top Dog's legacy and continuing it."

The classic hot dog joint opened in Berkeley in 1966 and has been feeding hungry college kids since.
