BERKELEY, CA — The Berkeley-East Bay Humane Society is offering a free cat and dog vaccine clinic this weekend. Here's what to know.
Officials at the nonprofit say the event will take place Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 936 Carleton St.
They'll offer rabies and DAPP vaccines for dogs and FVRCP vaccines for cats, officials said.
Other services available include flea and tick prevention, dewormer and microchipping, officials said.
The event follows a strong turnout during a similar event in May, which nonprofit officials said revealed "the tremendous need for accessible preventive veterinary care throughout the Bay Area."
The nonprofit served 450 pets during that weekend event.
"No one should have to put off a vaccine or microchip because of cost," Jeffrey Zerwekh, Executive Director of Berkeley Humane, said in a statement. "When we make preventive care accessible, we are not only protecting the health of pets; we are helping families stay together."
No appointments are necessary for the event this weekend.
All dogs must be on a leash, while all cats must be placed in a secure carrier.
Pets that appear visibly ill will not be vaccinated, and the medical team reserves the right to refuse service to any animal, the nonprofit said.
The nonprofit also asked community members to bring their pets' previous vaccination records, especially if requesting a rabies shot.
"This helps our team provide the best care," the nonprofit said.
