UC Berkeley Student Newest Member of American Red Cross Northern California Board

UC Berkeley student Zaneta Chen is the newest member of The American Red Cross of Northern California's Board of Directors, the organization announced last week.

Chen receives this distinction after helping to organize 15 blood drives on campus as an officer of UC Berkeley's American Red Cross at Cal club, where she is the blood services coordinator. She is a molecular and cellular biology major, entering her senior year this fall.

The organization's Northern California Board of Directors is responsible for advocating for its region, overseeing volunteer, donor and board member recruitment.

UC Berkeley donates more blood to the American Red Cross than any other college in Northern California, according to the organization's Northern California blood services region CEO Jeff Meyer.

“The beauty of the Red Cross's Blood Services is that anyone can help save a life,” said Chen. “No schooling or licensing is needed, just the compassion and willingness to volunteer or donate.”
