“We’re looking forward to meeting neighbors of all ages who are interested in creating a community where we can age independently in our own homes,” said Andrew Gaines, Ashby Village’s executive director. “The Village movement is all about neighbors helping neighbors.”
While membership in Ashby Village is open to people 50 and older, the success of this organization is based on the volunteer efforts of people of all ages. The January 25th Open House will feature an overview of Ashby Village and the broader “Village Model” that is taking off across the country, plus a discussion about the benefits and costs of membership. Ashby Village members and volunteers will share their experiences, explain how the organization has improved their lives, and answer questions.
People from all East Bay neighborhoods are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served. To RSVP and get more information about the Hiller Highlands Open House and Ashby Village, please contact the office at 510-204-9200 or info@ashbyvillage.org.
