Barney's Is Still the Best!

Barney's is another one of those lunch spots that I already know well, so it was more like visiting an old friend than reviewing a new restaurant. And I thought briefly of trying something new, but when I know what I love, why not order it?

Luckily, George ordered something much more exotic, so I was able to take a picture of his Beach Body salad, which he loved. And it was so big that he had to take a sizable amount home in a takeout container. The only strange thing about that salad was that it didn't actually come with lettuce, but you could add it for a $1. Since when is lettuce the add-on?

My burger was delicious as always. I got the messiest one I possibly could—with BBQ sauce, bacon, and grilled onions. (Okay, it was not a red-letter day for my diet or my heart health...)

But for me, the star of the show is always Barney's onion rings, which are gargantuan and amazing in every way. Shredded parmesan is scattered over the basket and they're served with ranch dressing, but why would anyone ever dip something that is already perfection into something that might have mayonnaise in it? Even though I already had the nice photo of George's salad, I had to capture the beauty of a Barney's onion ring. A half order was plenty for the three of us to each have enough. Really, just one would be plenty as a side dish, but I probably had three. Okay, four! But once you experience that delectable smell wafting up from the basket, it's useless to resist.

Another plus at Barney's is the carafe of water that comes at the beginning of the meal and keeps coming. And although I've reduced my soda intake considerably, I love their bottomless Diet Pepsi. And I didn't have to flag down our waitperson to refill it either time!

Oh, Barney's, you're the best!
