Berkeley, California (Tuesday, September 01, 2020) - On July 30th at 9:18 pm, Officer Cheri Miller was in the area of CVS Pharmacy (1451 Shattuck Avenue) when she witnessed an in-progress robbery involving multiple suspects. During her encounter with the suspects, Officer Miller discharged her firearm, striking the suspect vehicle in the left front wheel area. Based on our investigation, no one was struck by the gunfire. The driver of the vehicle (Brandon Owens, Male, 19 years old, Concord, CA) was later arrested and has been charged with PC 211—Robbery. The other occupants of the vehicle have not yet been identified.

This incident is being investigated by the Department’s Homicide Detail and the Department’s Internal Affairs Detail. Per standard protocol, the District Attorney’s Office was notified of the incident and Officer Miller was placed on administrative leave.
