Berkeley Man Accused Of Grand Theft Arrested: Police

Alameda Police say he took more than $20,000 worth of merchandise from the Target store there.

BERKELEY, CA — A Berkeley man was arrested following a multi-agency investigation into a string of Bay Area grand thefts.

According to Alameda Police, "Between April and August 2022, the Target store in Alameda experienced a series of grand thefts totaling over $20,000 in stolen merchandise. All of the incidents had a similar suspect and Modus Operandi."

Police detectives from multiple cities, Target’s Loss Prevention Officers, and the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office collaborated to solve the crimes. The investigation identified a 47-year-old Berkeley man as the suspect. His name was not released.

He was arrested in San Leandro last week.

Alameda Police say the man has been linked to multiple Bay Area grand theft cases, beyond the $20,000 in thefts in Alameda.
