Berkeley Mayor Elected President Of Regional Governing Board
Jesse Arreguin will head the Association of Bay Area Governments starting in January.
BERKELEY, CA — The Association of Bay Area Governments has elected Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguin as its new president and Napa County Supervisor Belia Ramos as vice president.
The pair was chosen last week and will start their two-year terms in January on ABAG, the regional land use planning agency for the nine-county Bay Area.
Arreguin is replacing Sonoma County Supervisor David Rabbitt as president. Arreguin was elected as Berkeley's mayor in 2016 as the first Latino ever in the position and the city's youngest mayor in a century.

Ramos, who was elected to the Napa County board in 2016, founded Raise The Bar LLC, a writing company that prepares applicants for the California Bar Exam.
