Berkeley Officer-Involved Shooting Video Released

BERKELEY, CA — The Berkeley Police Department released video Friday of an officer involved shooting that happened on Nov. 6 at Grayson and 7th streets. An auto burglary suspect, David Bonino, 39, was killed in the shooting.
This was the second deadly officer involved shooting over a short period in Berkeley. Last month, police released video of an active shooter killed after he fatally shot a woman on Sept. 21.
According to the police department narrative of the second shooting, officers were dispatched just before 5:30 a.m. on Nov. 6 to an auto burglary involving three suspects at Grayson and 7th streets. One of the suspects was detained by an officer on the sidewalk while two additional suspects tried to flee in an SUV.

Police report, "One of our officers followed the SUV and attempted an investigative stop, but the SUV continued to flee. The roadway was blocked by patrol vehicles; the SUV then reversed, ramming an officer's patrol vehicle. The driver of the SUV then drove onto the sidewalk, nearly hitting two officers, the detained suspect, and an uninvolved pedestrian. The officer on the sidewalk discharged his firearm, striking the driver of the SUV."

Berkeley Police officers gave the wounded man CPR until the Berkeley Fire Department arrived to take over life-saving measures. The man was transported to Highland Hospital, where he later died.
The two other suspects were arrested.
The police department investigation continues.
