Berkeley Police Launch Automated System For Non-Emergency Calls
The new system will not impact the 911 system.

BERKELEY, CA — Calls to the Berkeley police non-emergency line will be handled by an automated routing system that launched this morning, according to police.
People calling the non-emergency line at (510) 981-5900 will be presented with options for various services and the automated system will route the call to the appropriate person who can help them, police said.
The new system will not impact the 911 system and is meant to help staff at the department's Public Safety Communications Center, which handles more than 1,300 calls for service per day, so they can handle calls more efficiently.
