Injured Bicyclist in Intensive Care

The collision sent the Berkeley man to the hospital. (breaking)

BERKELEY, CA — A bicyclist was seriously injured when he was hit by a car in Berkeley on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

Officers with the Berkeley Police Department responded Tuesday at 1:35 p.m. to the intersection of Allston Way and Sacramento Street on a report of a collision between a bicycle and a vehicle.

Police said the bicyclist was riding west on Allston Way and crossing Sacramento Street when he was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on Sacramento Street.

The bicyclist, identified as a 25-year-old Berkeley resident, suffered serious injuries in the collision and was transported to the hospital.

He remains in intensive care, according to police.

Police said the driver of the vehicle was cooperative with investigators and alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the collision.
