Bike Rider Killed By Amtrak Train In Berkeley
It happened Tuesday night underneath University Avenue, not far from the train station.

BERKELEY, CA —A person who was riding a bike was struck and killed by a passenger train Tuesday night in Berkeley, according to Amtrak and the Alameda County Coroner.
An Amtrak spokesperson said train 719, a northbound San Joaquin train that originated in Bakersfield with a final stop in Oakland, struck a person at Gilman Street, not far from the Berkeley station underneath University Avenue. An exact time of when the collision occurred wasn't available.
An official with the coroner's office confirmed a person had been killed in a collision with a train in Berkeley, but the identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Amtrak said local authorities are investigating the collision. A spokesperson said 23 passengers were on board at the time of the collision. No passengers or crewmembers on board were injured.
