Bill, Chelsea Clinton Host Gathering at UC Berkeley

More than 1,200 student leaders are in Berkeley for the Clinton Global Initiative University.

BERKELEY, CA - More than 1,200 students are descending on UC Berkeley to take part in the Clinton Global Initiative University. The gathering is taking place Friday evening through Sunday.

President Bill Clinton and Chelsea Clinton are hosting the ninth annual CGI U meeting, which has brought together innovative student leaders to make Commitments to Action in five focus areas: Education, Environment and Climate change, Peace and Human Rights, Poverty Alleviation, and Public Health.

Dozens of topic experts have gathered to help focus the students as they network with their peers. In addition to Bill and Chelsea Clinton, speakers include astronaut Cady Coleman, HBO journalist Gianna Toboni, entertainer Conan O'Brien, and Salman Khan, founder of Khan Academy.
