CA Bill: Ride Sharing Electric Vehicles Requirement
Ten years from now in 2028, 100 percent of miles driven by ride-hailing drivers would need to be driven in zero-emission vehicles.

BERKELEY, CA — State Sen. Nancy Skinner, D-Berkeley, has introduced legislation pushing ride-hailing services like Uber and Lyft toward using more zero-emission and electric vehicles within the next 10 years.
Senate Bill 1014 would use up to $300 million in state funding for rebates specifically aimed at ride-hailing drivers to incentivize the purchase of environmentally friendly vehicles.
"We know that people who drive for a living rack up miles and go through cars faster than most people," Skinner said.

By 2020, 20 percent of miles driven by ride-hailing drivers would need to be driven in zero-emission vehicles.
