Trusts v. Probate- What's the Difference? Which is Right for You?

Paul Walde is an interdisciplinary artist living in Victoria, Canada on lək̓ʷəŋən territory where he is a Professor of Visual Arts at the University of Victoria. For the past 30 years, his work has been engaged with addressing environmental issues including: exploring non-human activity and communication, global warming, deforestation, land use, endangered species, and the artworld. Originally trained as a painter, Walde’s music and sound compositions have been a prominent feature in his artwork for over 25 years. He is best known for his interdisciplinary performance works staged in the natural environment, and documentation of these events is frequently used as the basis of Walde’s sound and video installations which have been the subject of exhibitions nationally and internationally.
In this talk, he will discuss his recent works about the primary forests of Vancouver Island and the challenges they face. In 2025, Walde presented&nbsp;Forestorium,&nbsp;a full-length opera featuring 8 soloists, orchestra and chorus, in an old growth forest on Ma’amtagila territory on Northern Vancouver Island.&nbsp;Treescape Revolution No.1,&nbsp; a true-to-scale photographic image of one revolution around an entire 36-foot circumference of an old-growth cedar tree,&nbsp;attempts to describe the scale and the complexity of these organisms and the systems they belong to and suggests that a tree is not just a tree but an ecosystem within an ecosystem.

About the Author

Domenica Marchetti&nbsp;is a celebrated champion of Italian home cooking and the author of several acclaimed cookbooks, including The Glorious Pasta of Italy, Preserving Italy, and Williams-Sonoma Everyday Italian. A former journalist with a master’s degree from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, she brings a storyteller’s curiosity and a cook’s intuition to every recipe. Her work has appeared in The Washington Post, Food &amp; Wine, La Cucina Italiana, and more.

Domenica teaches cooking classes across the U.S. and leads small-group culinary tours in Italy. She divides her time between Virginia and Abruzzo—her family’s homeland and the inspiration for many of her recipes. Tiffany Austin is a vocalist, composer, educator, and Berkeley Law Juris Doctor. She has performed with luminaries such as Pharoah Sanders, Roy Ayers, John Handy, Cyrus Chestnut, and Doug Carn. Her soulful delivery and musical storytelling has brought her to stages at Birdland and Dizzy's Den in NYC, Walt Disney Concert Hall in her native Los Angeles and the SFJAZZ Center in San Francisco. Beyond California, she has performed in Europe, Asia, and Australasia, as well as on nationally televised programming in the United States. “Nothing But Soul”, Austin's debut album from 2015, garnered attention from NPR’s “Fresh Air” program and Downbeat magazine for its bold recasting of Hoagy Carmichael standards. Her 2018 sophomore album, “Unbroken”, was hailed by All About Jazz as a "fully formed masterpiece", received a 4 star Downbeat review, and reached #16 on jazz radio charts. Austin is a guest educator at series sponsored by SFJAZZ, Stanford Jazz Workshop, and local school districts, and is currently Musical Director of the Healdsburg Jazz Festival Community Choir. Montclair Village Art Walk enters its 49th year and celebrates art in the outdoors when more than 50 artists from the Bay Area and beyond will be displaying their handcrafted artwork along the sidewalks and against the scenic backdrop of Montclair Village and the Oakland Hills. Presented by the Montclair Village Association, this free event is set to take place Saturday and Sunday, April 25-26, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.&nbsp;
Enjoy this open-air art gallery and shop for gifts for yourself, someone special or for your office collection. Visit on Sunday and in addition to leaving with new art treasures, take home fresh produce and delectables from La Salle Avenue’s wonderful farmers’ market stalls from 9am-1pm.
Featured Artisans Includes:
<ul><li>Stephen Anderson of Spring Garden Cedar takes Western Red Cedar lumber and hand crafts it into unique outdoor furniture designs. At this year’s show he will be showing his Adirondack chair, glider bench for one of two people, dining table and chair, and end table.&nbsp; All of his furniture is original with many natural color tones from light straw to chocolate brown.</li><li>Megan Brown Ceramics namesake artist wheel throws and hand builds functional, modern ceramic tableware, home decor and jewelry using porcelain and stoneware. As a California native, Megan draws inspiration from the ever changing natural beauty around her. “Each piece that I create is one-of-a-kind and thoughtfully designed to be both visually striking and satisfying to hold,” she says.&nbsp;</li><li>Painter Jenna Hobbs’ artwork ranges from realistic to impressionistic to completely abstract. Some of the work in her recent series unveils the hidden geometry that exists in any given scene, revealed by painting invisible ‘plumb lines’ between objects, and geometric shapes between overlapping lines.
