Results From Our Oversized Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Operation

Berkeley, California (Monday, September 13, 2021) - The Berkeley Police Department would like to thank California Highway Patrol for assisting us with conducting commercial enforcement in the area of Cedar Street and Milvia Street on September 8th, 2021. This enforcement was in response to numerous complaints from the community regarding commercial vehicles failing to obey the City’s weight limitations as well as to protect our roadways from the potential damage on residential roadways caused by oversized commercial vehicles.

This collaborative effort with CHP resulted in 15 traffic enforcement stops, 8 traffic citations being written for 14 California Vehicle Code offenses.

Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
