City Of Berkeley: Suspect Arrested After A Gunfire Incident On 9/6

After some additional investigation, detectives identified the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest and search of his residence.

Berkeley, California (Friday, October 01, 2021) - On September 6th at 1:23 pm, officers responded to the shared off-street parking lot near the 99 cent store on a report of gunfire. When officers arrived, officers learned that a suspect fired a handgun in the air several times and drove off in a vehicle.

After some additional investigation, detectives identified the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest and search of his residence. During the search of the suspect’s residence, detectives found the handgun used in the shooting as well as a quantity of methamphetamine and loaded un-serialized (AKA Ghost Gun) short barrel AR-style assault pistol.

The suspect (a 35-year-old Berkeley man) was arrested on suspicion of shooting a handgun in a negligent manner, possession of an assault weapon, and possession of a controlled substance.
