City Of Berkeley: Suspect Arrested After Missing Teen Was Located At His Residence

During the investigation, detectives learned that their daughter was possibly with a 25-year-old man in the City of Stockton.

Berkeley, California (Wednesday, July 21, 2021) - On the morning of July 20th, a family reported that their 15-year-old daughter was missing from their family home in southwest Berkeley.

While officers searched the area and notified the community, detectives worked through the night to investigate their daughter’s disappearance. During the investigation, detectives learned that their daughter was possibly with a 25-year-old man in the City of Stockton. With this information, detectives obtained a warrant for the suspect’s home and drove to Stockton to search for the missing teen.

Inside the suspect’s home, detectives found the missing teen and arrested the suspect on suspicion of child stealing (PC 278) and arranging/meeting with a minor for lewd and lascivious behavior [PC 288.4(b)]. After additional investigation into the events surrounding the teen’s disappearance, detectives also arrested the suspect on suspicion of statutory rape [PC 261.5(d)].
