Exhibit Opening: Early Days of Dance in the East Bay

The Berkeley Historical Society invites you to attend our exhibit opening: Early Days of Dance in the East Bay.

The exhibit opening will feature a talk by Bay Area dancer and historian, Joanna G. Harris, PhD, author of Beyond Isadora: Bay Area Dancing 1915-1965. Admission is free and a reception with light refreshments will follow the talk.

The exhibit will highlight the East Bay's pioneers in the dance community, from Oakland-raised Isadora Duncan to the toga-wearing Boynton family of Berkeley's famous Temple of Wings. We will also examine all types of early 20th century dance, from U.C. Berkeley's Partheneia to the Greek Theater performances.
