ABOUT THE SHOW:

JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR is the rock opera classic that presents the story of the last 7 days of Jesus of Nazereth as seen from the perspective of Judas Iscariot.  Judas is torn between the substance of Jesus' message and the hype that surrounds his friend's growing celebrity. With pulsating rock songs, sweet ballads and a little bit of soul, composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyricist Tim Rice provide depth of character to some of the lesser known names from the Gospels. YMTC's production frames the play in a contemporary setting through the vision of director Jennifer Boesing. A live, seven piece professional band is led by music director Dave Moschler.

YMTC is a Berkeley-based company which produces professional caliber musical theater while providing exceptional theater training to students from the 7th grade through university level.  We bring together the Bay Area's most talented and dedicated young singer/actors with professional directors, designers, and musicians to create theater that takes on challenging and sophisticated musical and dramatic themes, and that is always accompanied by a full, live orchestra.
