New World Gypsy String Band/Triskela Harp Trio

Chris Caswell, Lisa Lynne, and Aryeh Frankfurter of New World Gypsy String Band conjure hauntingly beautiful renditions of traditional tunes, pick up the tempo for some foot-stomping jigs, and with heart and grace explore new Celtic horizons. Multi-instrumentalist Chris, a natural raconteur, is one of the world's finest players and makers of the Celtic harp. Lisa specializes in traditional acoustic folk instruments and is widely acclaimed for composing stirring, heartfelt melodies that transcend category and genre. Though the Celtic harp is Aryeh's musical focus, his performing skills extend to a wide range of instruments including violin, guitar, penny whistle, baroque flute, and the Swedish Nyckelharpa.

Together since 1995, Triskela Harp Trio-Diana Stork, Shawna Spiteri, and Portia Diwa-perform a repertoire of dance tunes, heartfelt ballads, and stirring airs on three hand-made harps accompanied by Swedish Nyckelharpa, an assortment of plucked instruments, percussion, exotic woodwinds and sweet vocal harmonies. Tonight's show includes selections from their debut CD Voice of Tara, an ethereal collection of traditional Celtic tunes plus original works celebrating love, nature and myth. The documentary Reclaiming the Blade, narrated by John Rhys-Davies, featured an original tune from this CD, Diana's uplifting "Wedding Bells."
