Burning Man, a festival-slash-art installation world in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada, will be inhabited by more than 50,000 people known as "Burners" on Monday.

For the first time in its 25 years, tickets are sold out for the event, according to the Huffington Post, and those who show up at the gate of the makeshift "Black Rock City" without a ticket will be turned away.

But it seems Berkeley will still be well-represented at the event. Leslie Kieffer, manager at vintage clothing on Telegraph Avenue, said that between 45 and 50 people have come through the store looking for pieces for their Burning Man outfits — picking up goggles, hippie dresses, fur hats and anything spandex. "And prom stuff, because this year the theme is 'rites of passage,'" she said.

Even some UC Berkeley scientists are getting in on the action, the Contra Costa Times reported, by constructing the world's largest clock for the event.
