Gunman Robs Pedestrian Of Cell Phone In Berkeley

The robbery happened Thursday morning.

BERKELEY, CA — A man walking in Berkeley early Thursday morning was robbed at gunpoint of his cell phone, according to University Police. The robbery happened in the vicinity of Dwight Way and Bowditch Street. The victim was not injured.

Berkeley Police received a call at 2:12 a.m. about the robbery, which had taken place about an hour before.

A 21-year-old man was walking near People’s Park "when he was approached by a white, newer model Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) occupied by two suspects," University Police said in a release. "The passenger got out of the car, pointed a handgun at the victim, and took the victim’s cellular phone. The suspects fled in the SUV in an unknown direction."
