BERKELEY, CA — A ride-hailing service driver who allegedly exposed himself and masturbated in public near the University of California at Berkeley campus on multiple occasions last year has been arrested and charged, police said Tuesday.

The incidents occurred in the area of Dwight Way and Etna Street, south of the UC Berkeley campus, according to police.

Recognizing a pattern, patrol officers conducted several surveillance operations in the hopes of catching the suspect and last November they detained David Forrest Chandler Herrington, 34, whose address is unknown, police said.

Herrington wasn't arrested or charged at that time but the activity suddenly stopped, according to police.

Sex crimes detectives and patrol officers continued to investigate the matter and Herrington was arrested on a warrant last Saturday and on Monday the Alameda County District Attorney's Office charged him with four misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure, police said.
