Man Attacked With Meat Cleaver On BART Train
The victim was attacked aboard a train traveling through the transbay tube.
ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA — A BART passenger was injured when he was attacked by a man with a meat cleaver-style knife while riding in a train through the transbay tube Wednesday afternoon, according to a statement from BART Interim Chief of Police Kevin Franklin
The passenger, a 25-year-old man whose name was not released, was hospitalized but is expected to survive his wounds.
The victim was robbed of his backpack by the suspect, who got off the train at the West Oakland station and tried to flee. He was arrested and both the weapon and backpack were recovered.

The suspect is identified as Charles Johnson, 24, of San Francisco. He will be booked into Santa Rita Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, robbery and probation violation.
