Man Survives Road Rage Shooting On I-80 Freeway: CHP

The man was shot in the right shoulder while driving, police said.

RICHMOND, CA — A man is recovering after being shot during a road rage incident along the Interstate 80 in Richmond on Monday evening, police said.

Police say the man was driving on the I-80, west of Hilltop Drive, when he got involved in a road rage incident just after 7:30 p.m.

It's unclear what led up to the road rage, but police say someone in another car fired at the man, striking him in the right shoulder, the California Highway Patrol said Thursday.

The man then got off the freeway and called the police, authorities said.

The suspect or suspects involved in the shooting have yet to be identified. But the man who was shot is expected to survive the shooting after being taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to authorities.

The shooting shut down all the lanes of the eastbound I-80 at El Portal Drive while officers investigated.
