Man Shot At Berkeley Homeless Camp, Police Report

The homeless camp is at Hearst and the Eastshore Highway, according to police.

BERKELEY, CA — A 48-year-old man was shot at a homeless camp in West Berkeley early Monday morning, police said.

Officers who responded to the area of Hearst Avenue and Second Street, near the University Avenue exit off Interstate Highway 80, on a report of a shooting found a man in front of the Peet's coffee shop at 1776 Fourth St. who said he had been shot at the nearby homeless camp at Hearst and the Eastshore Highway, according to police.

The victim, who is homeless, was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries that police said are not believed to be life-threatening.
