New EV Charging Station at West Branch Library

The electric vehicle charging station joins others installed by the city for public use. And it's solar powered!

BERKELEY, CA — Electric vehicles can now be charged at Berkeley's West Branch library, according to city officials.

The charging station at the branch at 1125 University Ave. costs $1.50 per hour, plus any applicable parking fees. It joins the city's other charging stations already in place at the Berkeley Marina and the Oxford and Telegraph-Channing parking garages.

The library's charging station is powered partially by solar panels on the roof of the building. The library has produced more power than it uses since opening in 2014, city officials said.
