BERKELEY, CA — An Oakland man was arrested last week on suspicion of secretly recording women and minors around Berkeley using hidden cameras in his shoes, police said.

Police say the man recorded a teen girl's skirt at the Lox Stock and Bagel in the 2000 block of Allston Way in Berkeley as she waited in line on Oct. 26.

"The victim discovered the concealed camera after inadvertently stepping on the man's foot and noticing a camera pointed toward her," the Berkeley Police Department said.

Detectives later served a warrant at the man's Oakland home and seized several electronic devices, police said.

On Oct. 30, he was arrested on suspicion of invasion of privacy using a concealed recording device, annoying or molesting a minor and destruction of evidence. Police identified him as 35-year-old Noah Stein.

Authorities believe Stein could also be responsible for another camera hidden inside the Taco Bell Cantina near UC Berkeley on Oct. 29, police said.

"Investigators believe the suspect may have secretly recorded additional victims while frequenting the South Campus area over several weeks," police said.

Anyone who believes they may have been a victim of the alleged incidents or was inside the Taco Bell Cantina after 11 p.m. on Oct. 29 is asked to contact the Berkeley Police Department's Sex Crimes Unit at 510-981-5735.
