We invite all to participate and lets pray together for the people of Nepal who lost their lives during massive and most devastating earthquake rocked Nepal causing thousands of death and destroying our world Heritage sites to normal houses leaving people in terror and fear under the open sky without food and shelter. With the devastating two major earthquakes and multiple aftershocks, the nation of Nepal is desperately struggling to rebuild. The 7.3-magnitude earthquake on May 12 has taken at least 90 lives, adding to the 8,000 lives the people of Nepal were still grieving after the first 7.8 magnitude earthquake on April 25.

Please come to MLK (Jr) Civic Center Park, Berkeley, and Opposite of Berkeley High School just a block away from Downtown BART Station. We invite you all to be there around 12:30 Pm since our peace walk start sharp at 1PM.

The objective of this event is to observe Peace Rally on the auspicious occasion of 2559th Birth Anniversary of Shakyamuni Buddha who was born in Lumbini Garden, Nepal. But this year we are holding this peace rally to pay homage to all those who lost their lives in Nepal due to massive earthquake.

Therefore, our purpose to hold this rally to make people aware about the number of after shock that terrified the citizen and they need help and pray from all of us. We are also doing some kind of fundraising event on the same time; if you want to help and donate please feel free to join our march or just drop some amount to rebuild Nepal in this crisis.

As we all know Lumbini Nepal, as is a pilgrimage destination for Buddhists and peace lovers. The peace movement asserts this be an important event that will help send message of peace and non-violence to the American people and the world at large. Further, the foundation feel honored having this peace event being held in the heart of Historic Berkeley City where we see the mix culture livening in peace and harmony. We just want to let you know the fact that the discovery of the inscription on the pillar erected by the Emperor Asoka in 249 BC has established the fact that the Lumbini Nepal is the authentic birthplace of the Buddha.

The Peace March will commence from the MLK (Jr) Civic Center Park, Berkeley and proceed towards the Shattuck avenue up to the West Circle entrance of the campus of UC Berkeley then passing through Oxford street to University avenue we will come down to Shattuck Circle and move further down to Martin Luther Kind Jr. Way. From there will be going back to the University avenue to the Civic Center park, Where we end with sharing thoughts, prayers and short notes highlighting the recent earthquake hit in Nepal or sharing messages of peace and non-violence taught by Shakyamuni Buddha. The event will end at 5:00 PM. Please feel free to donate generously to support earthquake victims.
