Person Fatally Struck By Freight Train In Berkeley: Officials
The person had been trespassing along the railroad tracks when they were hit, Union Pacific officials said.
BERKELEY, CA — A Union Pacific Railroad freight train fatally struck a person in Berkeley on Monday morning, according to a statement from the company.
Union Pacific said in a statement that a person had trespassed onto the railroad tracks in the area of Hearst and Fourth streets when they were struck by the train around 11:45 a.m.
Nobody aboard the train was injured, but the crew is being offered support after witnessing the person being struck and killed, officials said.
