Police Arrest Man, 71, Who Allegedly Videotaped Man Inside UC Berkeley Restroom

Campus police arrested a 71-year-old man Monday at the University of California at Berkeley, after he allegedly videotaped another man inside a school restroom. At 4:50 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious person inside a men’s restroom, located in the lower level of the Martin Luther King Student Union building, according to police.

The victim, a 49-year-old man, had entered the bathroom stall, when he noticed someone reaching underneath the stall, holding a smart phone. The victim yelled at the suspect and the victim left the restroom, police said. The victim told a building employee, who then contacted police.

When officers arrived at the restroom, they found the suspect in possession of a smart phone, as well as a drill, which the suspect had used to drill a hole in the stall’s wall, according to police. Police identified the suspect as Richard Anderson. Police arrested Anderson on suspicion of invasion of privacy and vandalism.
