Public Speaking Classes Are Coming to Sleepy Hollow Elementary - Orinda!

Learning how to express oneself in groups with skill and confidence has immeasurable benefits in school, work, family and life! Our overall goal is to build those skills and confidence so students can speak effectively, write clearly and connect with their audience. Our programs strengthen students’ reasoning, research, writing, active listening, weighing pros and cons, and critical thinking skills.

Gurus Educational Services offers basic and advanced public speaking and debate courses and tournaments at many locations in the Bay Area. We have helped thousands of young people become better public speakers, debaters and students.

Introduction to Speech Writing
This program leads young students to basic writing skills. They learn how to write speeches in six easy steps. They begin to learn how to give a structure to their thoughts. The students learn different ways to open and close the speech to make it interesting. They continue to practice speaking with confidence. It gives them a head start for the advanced courses in Public Speaking and Debates

Public Speaking & Debate, Level 2
This class is a combo course of Advanced Public Speaking and Speech Writing and Debates. It is an excellent course to take, as it prepares students on both aspects of public speaking and debates: Writing effective speeches and presenting them persuasively. The aim for this class is to have each participant write a well-structured engaging speech. Kids at this age usually find it challenging to organize their many! ideas. This class focuses in helping participants give a clear structure to their thoughts. Students study how to write speeches on different kinds of topics and for different occasions. In debates, they use tools like flow, practice note taking. This course introduces various formats of the debates popular in high school. The participants debate on a variety of their age appropriate topics in various formats.
