The works presented are works of digital automatism; digital exploration of the unconscious as a means of tapping into the transparent world of the marvelous, making the invisible visible and sliding along the razor’s edge toward the open doors of the imagination. His exquisite use of ZBrush, Cinima4D, Poser, Mudbox, Daz Studio, and Photoshop, with 3rd party filters, as well as his famous surrealist imagination, make the prints iconic..

Ribitch is also a surrealist poet & publisher, and he will concurrently host a Poetry Reading at the Reception, from 7-8 p.m., featuring poets Hugh Behn-Steinburg, Brian Lucas, Andrew Joron and Ribitch.

This is an historic opportunity to see iconic digital art and hear the great surrealists of the area read their poetry.

Ribitch’s views of surrealism can be summed up in these words:

“It is a “lightning field” of the possible, where the horizon is set aflame by human potential. It is here amongst the corellas of this possibility that the marvelous displays its fine wings of gossamer silk and smoke. It is the play between the invisible and the visible dancing under a moon, recognizing its dreams in crystalline reflection. It is the erotic sensation of a breath, like the shaman’s drum, the heart beat of the marvelous calling to the unseen chimeras of the unconscious to reveal their stories at the edge of the eye.”

Ribitch (Rib-Itch): A scratch on the rib, or something that bothers you. The name is a surrealist play on words and a bit of Humor Noir. Ribitch is a surrealist artist, poet, storyteller and co-founder of Oyster Moon Press, a surrealist focused publishing house. He has been involved with the recently published: “Hydrolith 2 Surrealist Research & Investigations,” a 366 page international journal of contemporary surrealist activity; and Ribitch’s own,“Carnival of Sleep,” a selection of poetry and dream tales.
