East Bay Little League Asks For Help After 'Heartbreaking' Theft

RICHMOND, CA — Richmond Little League suffered a difficult setback recently when someone stole thousands of dollars' worth of equipment from its storage container, according to organizers.

It's unclear exactly when the theft happened. The volunteer-run league started a fundraiser Sunday to recoup what was stolen.

"This theft doesn’t just take equipment," Richmond Little League volunteers said in a statement on GoFundMe on Sunday. "It takes resources away from the kids. Our kids shouldn’t have to pay the price for what happened."

The organization is asking for $11,000. That'll buy a new golf cart and field drag, power washer and other maintenance equipment for the league, organizers said. Organizers say $4,000 will go towards repairing the damaged storage container.

So far, the fundrasier raised $1,680, the fundraiser shows.

"For a volunteer run league, $11,000 is an enormous and unexpected expense," according to Richmond Little League. "Every season, Richmond Little League is made possible by people who give their time because they believe our kids deserve a place to play, grow, compete, and build friendships."
