UC Berkeley Law Student is a Rising Republican Star

Indian-American Ranjit "Ricky" Gill received his undergraduate at Princeton and will receive his law degree at Berkeley School of Law, on a full academic scholarship, according to the Associated Press. He is scheduled to graduate from Berkeley next month, the Times of India reports.

Though the 24-year-old Gill won’t reach the minimum age required to serve in the U.S. House until May, “his campaign in a competitive swing district in California's Central Valley is winning support from the Republican establishment,” the AP reports.

In less than a year, Gill has received endorsements from former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, among others, while amassing “nearly $840,000 through 2011 alone.”

California's Indian-American community is growing, and Gill is tapping into its connections, with the help of his physician parents.

If Gill’s successful, he’ll be “the youngest House member,” the AP says.
