SEE: Brazen Laptop Theft In East Bay Coffee Shop Caught On Camera

Police shared the video to show how quickly the thefts can occur.

BERKELEY, CA — Police in Berkeley last week shared a video of a brazen laptop theft in a local coffee shop. Despite efforts from law enforcement agencies across the East Bay, laptop thefts have become a common occurrence in almost every city. Police are urging all citizens to be aware of surroundings and consider using a locking device on electronics. Officials shared the disturbing video to show how quickly the thefts can occur.

Anyone who owns a computer is encouraged to note of their device's serial number. Police said people should consider using a locking device to secure their laptops to the table, backing up their work to either an external hard drive that's not kept with the computer or to the cloud, buying tracking software so that they can be reunited with their devices if they're stolen.
