Spring Football Starts March 7

Check the complete schedule of practices open to the public. Season tickets for the 2016 season are on sale.

BERKELEY, CA – Cal is scheduled to begin its 2016 spring football practice sessions at Kabam Field at California Memorial Stadium on Monday, March 7 (3:30 pm PT). The majority of Cal’s spring football workouts and Pro Day on Friday, March 18 (8 am PT) will be open to the public. Spring workouts will conclude on Cal Day with the Cal Football Spring Game televised live by Pac-12 Networks on Saturday, April 16 (11 am PT).

“We are excited to share with our fans what we are doing in the offseason to prepare for the 2016 campaign,” head coach Sonny Dykes said. “College football games are not only won on Saturdays in the fall but with the work put in during the offseason. The work we did to prepare for the 2015 season led to much of the success we enjoyed. We’re excited for the upcoming spring practices and using them to help continue the upward trajectory of our football program.”

The Cal Football Spring Game is an admission free and interactive event that gives thousands of Cal fans an opportunity to get to know players and coaches in the Cal football program on an up close basis. Among the wide array of Cal Football Spring Game activities scheduled to take place include a Cal football scrimmage; opportunities for fans to interact with Cal football players and coaches; commemorative posters (first 2,000 fans); Fun Zone with photo station and much more. Additional activities, giveaways and details will be announced at a later date.

Cal’s annual Pro Day at Kabam Field at California Memorial Stadium will feature former players that are professional football prospects working out for professional football scouts onFriday, March 18 (8 am PT). The public portion of the event on the field at Kabam Field at California Memorial Stadium is expected to begin at approximately 9 am PT. Gates will open one hour in advance.

The 2016 Cal football season will begin with the first college football game ever in Sydney, Australia, on Aug. 27 and feature six home contests at Kabam Field at California Memorial Stadium, including five Pac-12 games following the home opener Sept. 17 against Texas. The Bears will host also their first conference game Oct. 1 against Utah and play a Friday night home conference contest with Oregon on Oct. 21 before finishing with three of its final four regular-season games at home against Washington (Nov. 5), Stanford (Nov. 19) and UCLA (Nov. 26).

Cal football season-ticket renewals are in progress and fans who were not 2015 season-ticket holders can place a $100 deposit now to secure seats at Kabam Field at California Memorial Stadium for 2016.
