Suspect Arrested For Retail Theft In Berkeley: Police

Police say the suspect loaded up suitcases and then strolled out of the store without paying.

BERKELEY, CA — The Berkeley Police Department arrested one person for retail theft earlier this month, police report, and displayed the stolen goods to the public.

The theft in progress was reported near the 2800 block of Adeline.

According to police, witnesses said the suspect loaded up merchandise including energy drinks, toothpaste and household goods inside luggage.

Officers saw the suspect leaving the store with luggage.

"The suspect attempted to flee the area on foot," police said. "After a short foot chase our officers detained the suspect nearby."
