Suspect Tried To Run Down Officers, Berkeley Police Say

The suspect crashed a short time later, police say.

BERKELEY, CA — A person who drove a car at two Berkeley police officers on Saturday afternoon is at large, a police spokesman say.

Just before 4 p.m. a couple of police officers were making a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Derby Street, Lt. Andrew Rateaver said. The officers tried to talk to the car's driver who would not talk to them and allegedly drove at them.

Neither officer was hurt, Rateaver said. The suspect crashed the car a couple of blocks away and ran away.
