Suya Comes to Berkeley: Jerk Chicken and Plantains in Downtown Berkeley

Suya African-Caribbean Grill is now open on Oxford Street in downtown Berkeley. It serves West African and Caribbean-inspired skewers of meat, fish and vegetables.

The “signature offerings,” according to Suya, are their grilled beef, chicken, fish and vegetables which run from $4.95 to $8.95.

Suya says they’re made with a savory custom spice rub, called suya pepper, and served with flatbread.

Suya also has jerk chicken on the menu with roasted plantains. The restaurant focuses on takeout, but there’s a bar that seats four, as well as outdoor seating.

Suya African-Caribbean Grill is located at 2130 Oxford Street and it’s open Monday - Saturday, from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
