Teen Arrested After Biting, Stabbing Father In Berkeley: Police

BERKELEY, CA — A teenager is in custody after biting and stabbing his 53-year-old father in Berkeley, according to authorities.

It's unclear what led up to the incident. Police say a 17-year-old boy bit his father's forearm and then struck him with several items, including a broken metal broom.

When officers arrived at the 1100 block of Sterling Avenue just before 2 p.m., they found the boy's father with a cut on his head from the broom attack, according to the Berkeley Police Department.

The boy, who was hiding inside a home, was taken into custody on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and other crimes, police said.

His father was taken to a local hospital for treatment, police said. The extent of his injuries was unclear.
