Berkeley Baroque Strings Concerts Nov. 3 & Nov. 7

The Berkeley Baroque Strings opens its 2015 season with two concerts featuring concerti solos performed by members of the orchestra. The highlight of the program will be a performance of the Telemann “Concerto for Violin, Cello, and Trumpet.” A replica of the Tromba Marina, an 18th century instrument with a single string that causes the bridge to vibrate creating a brassy buzz similar to a trumpet sound, will be showcased. Also on the program will be the ”Concerto for Harpsichord” and ”Concerto for Three Violins” by J.S. Bach and the ”Concerto for Two Violas” by Telemann, as well as works by Vivaldi, Torelli, and Leo.
Under the music direction of Kati Kyme, a member of the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and the New Esterhazy Quartet, the chamber orchestra is an affiliate of the San Francisco Early Music Society.
The first performance will take place on Tuesday, November 3 at 7:30pm. Donations gratefully accepted. The second performance on Saturday, November 7 at 4:00pm will be a fundraiser. Tickets $20. Both concerts will be held at St. Clement’s Episcopal Church, 2837 Claremont Blvd., Berkeley.
